Coffee Morning
The Passion Play team hosted a coffee morning in the town hall on 6th August. It was brilliantly supported and a huge thank you goes to those who baked, those who came and those who donated to our cause. Over £300 was raised towards our target. We are still looking for volunteers to come forward for set building and managing, costume making and marshals. Please sign up on the get involved page.

The Bishop of Ripon
The Right Revd Anna Eltringham, Bishop of Ripon, will be attending the Passion Play for Richmond and will lead the prayers at each venue. Bishop Anna came to this area in June 2023 and oversees a diverse community in North Yorkshire. She is known for her commitment to rural ministry and is delighted to be joining us.

The Georgian Theatre Royal
The Georgian Theatre Royal is the first venue to come forward and confirm that one of the most important scenes, the Last Supper, will take place on their stage right at the start of the Passion Play for Richmond. The stage will be set, and the scene will open before the arrival of Jesus and his followers, who will approach from the Church of St Joseph & St Francis Xavier. Admittance will be ticketed. Richmond Passion Play
Passion Plays are rooted in medieval tradition and are often performed by local communities during Easter. The most famous example is held in Oberammergau, Germany, and has been performed every ten years since 1634, following a pledge to God during a plague epidemic. Modern productions seek to immerse their audience in the drama, despair and hope. The Passion Play for Richmond in 2027 is called Something Extraordinary and has been written especially for our town and our venue
